Troy Roker's Massive Gap Jump

updated - 11/30/2008

On November 15, Troy Roker jumped a motorcross style gap on his wakeboard over concrete 13.5 meters (44.26 feet) long and was around 5.5 meters (18 feet) high in the air. The jump was fully recorded on 4 different video cameras and was measured from the end of the upramp to where he landed on the downramp.

To pull off the jump he rode over a specifically designed upramp and downramp built by Liquid Malisha. To get the speed he needed, he used an Urban Rider Winch with a 9hp engine.

Troy practiced for four days before the event, slowly moving back the upramp as he felt confident. Troy said, "I was pretty nervous before the first jump. There was a lot of people who had come out to watch and I wanted to go as far as possible for them. After i got that first jump out of the way, I was feeling heaps better and was able to go 13.5 meters on my third jump."

Before his jump was a wakeboard rail comp held out in front of Trojan Wake Ski Snow in Vineyard, NSW. Matty De Nittis took out the honours followed by Ryan Leary and James Tyrell.

A huge thanks needs to go to Trojan Wake Ski Snow for putting on the event and promting our sport in such a big way.

Here is a video of the event and Troy's Jump. Hope you enjoy it. It was shot and editied by LiquidN Films and photos were taken by DPrime photography.
