This Sat. Nov. 22nd 2008 The Finest Skateshop had The Turkey Shoot Grom Contest at St. Pete Beach Skatepark. It was a cold & windy day but we had a good turn out for the contest. 5-9 there is a few kids enter, 10-14 we had 12 kids enter, 15-up was full ( 20 kids ). But there was between 100- 150 people ( including the kids enter the contest ) who came out to watch the contest. We had hot dog vendor out there selling hotdogs and drinks, Ramble was out there jamming out through the contest, & Redbull came out giving away some drinks to the kids. The contest was pretty sick in 5-9 there was a kid only skated 2 days was doing hippie jump over the flatbar & learn how to ollie during the contest, In 10-14 there was a kids doing blunt fingerflip out on the quarter pipe, frontboard 360 shuv out on the flatbar, treflip off the hip, & etc., 15 -up these kids where doing backside 180 over hip to flat, 5-0 on 6 stair rail, back noseblunt on the flatbar, 50-50 to kickflip out on the elevator ledge, & etc. This grom contest was hard one to judge cause every skater brought there A game.

The winner of the 15 - up are: 1st Doug Schmich 2nd Bryce Springer 3rd Tyler Ostfeld 4th Denis Frain

I want to say Thank you to: St. Pete Beach Rec., Red Bull, Skatepark of Tampa, Innes, Black Box, 5boro, Substance, Circa, Tum Yeto, Transworld Skate mag., Natural Koncept, Podium, Blue Print, NHS, Alphanumeric, Autobahn, & Syndrome. The Turkey Shoot grom contest could have not been a fun one with out you guys. I do appreciate the all the support I got from you guys & the skaters. Let’s make the next grom contest in April fun one too!
