Wakeboard Contest Details:
Australia's premier wakeboard event is back for 2009 on Sunday the 11/1/2009. Wake wars will return to be the longest-running wakeboarding event in Australia, seven years young.
This year, Chris Higgs from Ride On Events has pushed this event to a new level with the announcement of MasterCraft and Adelaide Outboard Marine being the new partners and the official tow boat for the event. Now with MasterCraft towing the event it will have the same boat as the PWT in the States with the wake made by the world's best wakeboard boat, the X-Star. We are also hoping to be putting up the biggest prize money for a one off event in Australian history, $20,000, and reducing the entry fee to $100.00. The idea of this is to bring it back to the days of run by riders for the riders.
Wake Wars will no doubt be the biggest stand alone wakeboarding event attracting massive crowds of about 10,000 people, including both wakeboarding followers and people new to the sport, enticed by the thrill of the sport and the enjoyment of the laidback, festival feel of this event on the water's edge.
This event ensures spectators see the world's best riders at Australia's best back drop for wakeboarding, in the heart of Glenelg at Lake Patawalonga. The venue is only 2.5km from one of the best tourist areas and city beaches in South Australia. The event shows spectators how fun the sport of wakeboarding is, and the opportunities that exist in the sport both here and overseas.
Ride on Events has put a new look on the event for 2009 with a music festival feel by investing money in getting Adelaide's best Djs R Mac, Justice, Aj and Fresh fm broadcasting live all day. To top this off we can confirm that we have one of Australia's top shelf acts; TERRA FIRMA performing live his world wide hit WE LIKE TO PARTY after the rider's presentation. So bring the whole family along and have a great day and enjoy the party vibe.
